Akka trailer launch: Tanya Bami REVEALS Netflix has a meeting room named after Radhika Apte; actress says, “I was very proud”
Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte along with director Dharmaraj Shetty, Yogendra Mogre, Executive Producer, YRF, and Tanya Bami Series Head, Netflix India, attended the trailer launch of their show Akka in Mumbai. This marks the return of Radhika to Netflix. There’s a running joke on the internet since years that how a Netflix title mostly features Radhika Apte without fail. Radhika spoke about it and raised laughs.
Radhika Apte said, “It’s homecoming (laughs)! On a serious note, I genuinely feel at home. There was a time when people would ask whether I hold any shares (in Netflix)! In the beginning, people did ask me that question, ‘Do you hold shares?’. I was like, ‘Of course I don’t hold shares on Netflix’. But people (don’t believe me) and they say ‘You do’ (laughs)!”
Keerthy Suresh suggested to Radhika, “You should say you do (own shares).” Radhika joked, “I should say, ‘I own it’!”
Tanya Bami amazed the attendees as she revealed, “I am sure you know that the meeting rooms in our office are named after our shows. But one room is named after Radhika!”
Radhika Apte stated, “Yes, there is (laughs)! I was very proud. I went there and they told me, ‘Come, come, see’ and I saw names of other actors as well. I asked ‘Why are their names there?’! I am kidding (laughs).”
She continued, “But there’s a room in my name. It was very nice. I sat in there to discuss something once.”
Akka marks Radhika Apte’s sixth title on Netflix. The previous collaborations were Lust Stories, Raat Akeli Hai, Monica O My Darling and Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders. Many of her theatrical releases have also found a home on Netflix.
Akka releases on October 30.
